This initiative provides research skills for 25 young ESPGHAN members who are interested in a research-active career. The Research Academy program consists of a 2 year online syllabus with comprehensive training in clinical, translational and basic science research methods including biostatistics, epidemiology, trial design, academic and research tools within the wide array of paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition. The Academy participants will be provided with the opportunity to attend ESPGHAN courses directed to improve basic and more advanced research skills, such as the Young Investigator Forum (YIF) and the ESPGHAN Basic Science School. The delegates will also participate in basic and advanced research workshops at ESPGHAN annual meetings. During the second year, 6 delegates will be selected for a 3 to 6 months fellowship in a research centre of excellence supported by ESPGHAN.
