Virtual Baveno VII meeting, October 27 – 31, 2021.
Wednesday, October 27 - Sunday, October 31
Dear BSPGHAN members,
We would like to invite you to join the upcoming Baveno VII meeting, which will be held virtually in October 27 – 31, 2021. This meeting occurs approximately every 5 years and includes internationally acknowledged experts in portal hypertension and chronic liver disease. The proceedings of the Baveno meetings have been exceptionally influential in research and clinical advances in hepatology. Typically, these meetings have been held in cities on Lago Maggiore (Baveno or Stresa) in Italy, but due to the pandemic this year’s meeting will be virtual. The agenda and registration for the meeting can be found on the Baveno VII website ( http://www.baveno7.com/). The meetings will take place for 4 to 5 hours each day starting at 2 PM Central European Time Zone (8 AM Eastern Time Zone).
A special pediatric research workshop will be held on Sunday, October 31st, which is entitled, Primary Prophylaxis of Variceal Hemorrhage, Complexities in the Development of Evidence-Based Approaches in Pediatrics
The meeting will focus on variceal hemorrhage and the complex issues related to the controversies surrounding primary prophylaxis of variceal hemorrhage in children. The meeting is aimed towards paediatric hepatologists or gastroenterologists at all levels of their career, who are involved in the management of children with portal hypertension.
There will be also a discussion of the new developed International Multi-center Pediatric Portal Hypertension Registry (IMPPHR) as part of the symposium. This registry is aimed at providing important data to help inform approaches to primary prophylaxis of variceal hemorrhage in children.
