Summer School is designed to:
- offer a comprehensive curriculum on paediatric nutritional research, focusing on current ‘hot topics’
- serve as an introduction to evidence-based medicine in the field of nutrition
- provide evidence-based advice on nutrition for healthy infants, children and adolescents and on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of paediatric nutritional diseases
- offer unique opportunities to learn from and interact with expert faculty from various European centres, as well as from participants from around the world with an interest in nutrition
- provide knowledge transfer in an interactive way
- give delegates the opportunity to present their research and receive feedback from Faculty
Dates and times
The Summer School will commence at 15.00 on Monday, July 4th 2022, and will end with lunch on Friday, July 8th 2022.
Cost & Registration
The fee charged to the participant for the Summer School is € 175 (shared twin room) and includes
- accommodation
- three meals per day and coffee breaks
- course materials
- social programme including dinner

The Council of the Intestinal Rehabilitation and Transplant Association (IRTA) would like to announce the approval of a new policy to promote the development of local chapters within the organization. The goal of this exciting initiative is to increase international participation of all care providers within the multidisciplinary teams engaged in intestinal failure, rehabilitation, and transplantation. This would be accomplished through educational and research activities to promote the development of clinical and psychosocial management strategies for pediatric and adult patients with intestinal failure who require rehabilitation or transplant. IRTA invites care providers from all international intestinal rehabilitation and transplant centers to become engaged as active participants through the development of a local IRTA chapter. Creating a chapter will increase your visibility and local network. Involvement at the local level is important for the consolidation and the growth of our international organization and ultimately affects patient care and outcomes.
If you are interested in starting a local IRTA chapter, please confirm that your chapter can fulfill the following requirements:
- The local chapter must have a minimum for 5 IRTA members to establish a chapter. These participants must be current members of IRTA in good standing as a full member, allied health, fellow/trainee, or international member
- The principles and goals of IRTA History & Mission (tts.org) must be followed by the Chapter with adherence to the Declaration of Istanbul (declarationofistanbul.org)
- Each local Chapter should promote local and regional education through inter- and multidisciplinary scientific work and support career development in the fields of intestinal rehabilitation and transplant.
- The IRTA Chapters will have a specific page within the IRTA website that includes individual Chapter activities and news, pictures, comments, links, and a list of current active chapters. Content will be updated and added quarterly.
- Individual chapters have the option and are encouraged to develop a local chapter logo which will then be submitted to the IRTA Council for final approval.
- Local Chapters can try to obtain administrative support through local transplant societies. www.tts.org/tts-about/tts-nationally-and-internationally-affiliated-societies.
- Following approval by the IRTA Council to begin Chapter development, a recognition plaque will be sent to the leaders of each Chapter. The IRTA Council and IRTA committee members will actively support all IRTA chapter activities.

We are delighted to announce the launch of this fellowship opportunity. This is a joint opportunity brought to you by the BSPGHAN research committee and Professor Morris Gordon, Director of the Biomedical Evidence synthesis and Translation to practice (BEST) unit at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN). The unit houses the Cochrane Gut UK review group, managing the Paediatric IBD and functional bowel disease portfolios. The team have produced 35 systematic reviews, including 20 Cochrane reviews, in the last 3 years.
One successful candidate will be offered a funded secondment from 1st August 2022 for 12 months of 0.1-0.2 FTE. During this time, they will be offered bespoke training in systematic review techniques needed for Cochrane and non-Cochrane reviews. They will join the team for between one and three reviews, with a specific focus on reviews of functional constipation in childhood. These are being produced after requests from the Dutch guidelines team and the NASPGHAN motility committee, with the outputs therefore likely being used to inform these key guidelines.
This is open to all members of BSPGHAN, regardless of their seniority or professional group, and including allied health professionals. No specific skills, with the team currently working with authors at all stages of training and levels of experience. There will be no changes to or interference with clinical activities as per RCPCH portfolio for any successful BSPGHAN trainees, who will receive the support and flexibility required to undertake this fellowship in addition to their core activities.
Virtual working can be fully accommodated. The specific FTE commitment will depend on the individual pay grade of the successful candidate. Once appointed, an agreement between the candidates lead employer will be completed to allow a secondment during the fellowship, with backfill of pay from UCLAN to the lead employer (ensuring there is no change in pay terms or conditions for the candidate and rapid organisation of the role). The role will be subject to agreement by the lead employer for the secondment terms.
